Subject: [BOONE] Major worldwide computer attacks in progress: stop using  IE!

Hi,

The article is below. Important things to take away from it:

1) You become infected by visiting an infected website with IE. Many
large corporate websites are already compromised.

2) THERE ARE NO PATCHES for the two vulnerabilities exploited in IE.

3) Mainstream virus killer software is only just becoming aware of the
viruses, malware and adware installed when your machine is infected.
Update now! Your software ought to be set to automatic update if at all
possible, but update manually anyway at least once per day for the next
few, and then scan your computer when you've downloaded an update.

4) Firewalls are COMPLETELY USELESS against this type of threat.

5) STOP USING IE! Use something else: an abacus if you have to. Opera
(http://www.opera.com/), Netscape 7 (http://www.netscape.com), Mozilla
(http://www.mozilla.org), Mozilla Firefox (standalone browser) are all
attaining maturity as top flight browsers on the Windows platform.

This one is scary.
